Christmas Blizzard Sew Along--Day 1

Christmas Blizzard Sew Along--Day 1

Welcome to the Sew Along! We are going to whip up this beautiful Christmas throw over the next three days. You will be surprised to learn how simple and fun this quilt is to put together. I just love snowflakes, and I really wanted to design a quilt with a traditional 6-sided snowflake—like in real life. (And right now, some snowy weather sounds like a nice change from all this heat, right?!!)

This quilt finishes at 62” x 70”. The perfect size to drape on a big soft chair by the fire. Or over the back of a sofa or across the foot of the bed. I love a throw sized quilt! They are just so versatile.

Ok, Let’s get started! First, follow your pattern to cut your fabric strips from White and Assorted Reds as listed in the CUTTING section.

You can download a pattern HERE or order a hard copy HERE.

You can get a HexAngle Template Set HERE.

To purchase a full kit that includes all of the fabrics for quilt top and binding, the pattern, AND the template set, you can click HERE.

Watch this video, and I’ll show you how to sew your strip sets and cut the pieces using your templates.

In the video, I showed you how to cut your pieces, using the templates, from strip sets. Here is a pile of the different shapes that I used in the quilt.

This is a scrappy quilt, so use a variety of different reds to make it sparkle. Make sure they are not all the same shade so that you have different color values—that makes it interesting, AND you will be able to see all the different pieces that create the quilt.

Get all of your pieces cut today and tomorrow we will start piecing them together!

Happy quilting

Jill
