RBD Block Challenge #4
Today we are continuing along with our Riley Blake Designs Block Challenge. Sweet and talented Sandy Gervais is the designer of this week’s block. She has named it “Stella.” It is such a darling block! Don’t you just love it??? I can imagine a whole quilt-full of these blocks, and it would be awesome.
Sandy has used a fun element in her block—the triangle in a square. This is a pointy triangle that doesn’t have 45 degree angles, so it doesn’t work with the basic “corner triangle” method of construction. The FREE pattern includes the templates to use for this element.
Or, you can do what I did— I used Gerri Robinson’s Triangle-in-a-Square Templates. Gerri is another Riley Blake designer—you may know her as Planted Seed Designs. She has created this handy template set to use for Triangles in Squares in sizes from 1” to 6 1/2”. It was a perfect fit.
This is a beautiful block that goes together easily. Thanks, Sandy, for the great design!
If you haven’t been following along, it’s not too late for you to catch up. The block patterns are all free, and you can find all of them here on my blog or over at the RBD Blog.
Here is the downloadable pattern for the “Stella” block:
Have a fun time making this block, and all of the others!
See you next time!
