A Fresh Look for a Classic Pattern!
Hello Friends! Today I am showing off this cute little block I made from an older pattern of mine called Tiny House Craze.
My good friend Gerri of Planted Seed Designs has a section of her website called Re-Freshed Quilts where she shows you what her older patterns look like dressed up in her latest fabric! Isn’t that such a good idea?! I love what Gerri did with that and it inspired me to ‘re-fresh’ one of my patterns (but on a much smaller scale;).
My latest collection with Riley Blake Designs is called It’s the Berries and it is a beautiful red, white, and black collection. I think these designs lend themselves beautifully to a ‘log cabin’ look, as you can see HERE in a new pattern I designed especially for this line.
With that in mind I remembered one of my favorite patterns, Tiny House Craze. This quilt is so cute and fun with these little pieced houses! This pattern is shown here in my Coming Up Roses fabric.
I didn’t make up a full quilt, though I really should with how cute this block turned out!
This pattern is great for scrappy fabric but I really love the look using two colors. For this block I used my red and white color ways with the white on white (tone on tone) vine print for the background.
Seeing this pattern ‘re-freshed’ in this new light really helped inspire some creativity! If you have a favorite quilt pattern that you have made try making it again with a totally new fabric collection- the fabric changes the whole look!
Happy Sewing! x Jill
